Experience Vinternat – light art in the winter darkness at Rudkøbing Harbour

An artistic staging of night and nature

Vinternat is a site-specific light installation created by Jakob Fälling and presented in the harbour environment at Pakhuset in Rudkøbing. The work uses darkness and nature as both canvas and motif. Through light, shadow and sound, an atmospheric narrative of the night is created – right where the sea meets the town.

A sensory experience under the open sky

When darkness falls, the light installation is activated, transforming the harbour area into a living exhibition space. The audience is invited to explore light projections and visual landscape drawings that awaken both thoughts and senses. The atmosphere is quiet and present – and provides space for immersion in the tranquillity of winter.

Rudkøbing is a charming market town full of cosy shops, cafés and small galleries. Take a stroll through the cobbled streets, visit the harbour promenade or delve into local history at the Langeland Museum. The area is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark South Funen Archipelago, offering both culture and nature in one.

The event takes place at Pakhuset in Rudkøbing Harbour and is held outdoors. The area is accessible to people with walking difficulties and wheelchair users. It is easily accessible from the town centre, and public transport stops nearby. Bring warm clothing and footwear suitable for the weather – and let the calm descend with the darkness.

The event is part of VINTERLAND – Funen and the Islands' cultural festival in the dark.

The event is organised in collaboration between Jakob Fälling and Kulturregion Fyn. The festival is supported by the Region of Southern Denmark, the Islands' Art Foundation and the Danish Outdoor Council.
